Week 14 - 16 Summary

So some nice workouts these last 3 weeks without any major issues!, weight slowly going down which is great!

Right now my major goal is to lose weight when this is done i will bee looking for a new goal i'm mainly thinking about shorter runs with improved speed so a fast 3-5k time would be a goal i might look at or even 1500 m not exactly sure yet, but still some time to go before the weight will be gone :-)

Summary Week 12-13

Week 12-13 have been plagued a bit by an injury but still managed to get some training done and compete in a ½ marathon!

Week 12
Tuesday2H Box/Cross
Thuesday2H Box/Cross
Week 13
Tuesday2H Box/Cross
Thuesday7 Km Run
Saturday½ Marathon - 1:50:40

I kinda felt my hip acting out before hand which is why I reduced the training in the 2 weeks, but even with the reduction in training it still felt really bad after the ½ marathon and I'm almost a week later still having some hip issues but it is slowly getting better, but running will likely be off the table for a few weeks.

I'll update about the ½ marathon and how it went in a future post

Inspiration and motivation #2 - Day[9]

As humans we find inspirations from a lot of different sources, and since I’m both hugely into sports and eSports some personalities usually ends up having a larger impact on you then others, I never really seen anyone as being a role model or someone to inspire to “become” but rather tend to look towards different ideas, methodology and ways to think about stuff for inspiration, one of these people are Sean Day]9] Plott.

Sean does a lot of different stuff in regards to esports, daily shows teaching people about startcraft, how to train and become better, he does a lot of casting of professional games, Launched large scale tournaments for competitive players, and companies, he worked with large partners like Redbull, Blizzard etc. quite significant feats.

There are a few specific key aspects that i find inspiring

Work ethic, One thing you hear from a lot of people is that you don't need to be the most talented, or the best at something, to become the most successful, instead be the one with the best work ethic, Work harder then anyone to achieve your goal. be tenacious and keep at it even the days where you don't feel like it., and he leads by example, at the time of writing he have done  692 Daily Starcraft shows with a length of more then 1 Hour each, plus a tone of other shows tournaments etc.

Learn by doing: Some times life is just easier if you just do stuff, and afterwards evaluate on your mistakes and try to fix them, and then go at trying it again, for me personally i suffer a lot from being very self conscious about doing stuff Where i have no experience or knowledge, and feel like in order to allow my self to do something i need to know what i'm doing, Day[9] Does takes a bit of a different aproach, taking on a challenge he haven't done before because it sounds fun, and when he decides he wants to do it, he just does it, regardless of prior experiences, and instead of looking for obstetrical that prevents him from doing it he finds challenges to conquer and with his work ethic just push though it.

Being relentlessly positive: Sean actually did a Short Video / Podcast on this topic, which i found inspiring, although for me personally extremely hard to follow the video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCqwwTfXr1Q

Indulge in your own Nerd'iness: One of the things that sparked my interest in Day[9] was how he portrayed himself as being a huge nerd, and making it look cool, but the fact remains he wasn't cooler then many other nerds out there, but instead of trying to play it down, he indulged / embraced in it

There are likely alot of other things that are worth mentioning but in order to not make this wall of text too huge ill end it here :-)

You can check everything "Day[9]" out at www.day9.tv

Inspiration and motivation #1 - Nerdfitness.com

Inspiration and motivation.

So I like looking at different information sources, both for knowledge, motivation and inspirational purposes, and I thought I might as well gather some information about some of the stuff I find.

So I’ll start with the latest thing I randomly found, while googeling for “fun things to do while running” after some pages / redirection etc I ended up finding something that is called Nerdfitness.com and landed at the page: How to become a superhero in 4 easy steps (http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2010/08/26/how-to-become-a-superhero-in-4-easy-steps/)

After reading that fun little thing I began to investigating the site to figure out what it was all about
The site sets out to use general nerdy stuff, games, movies etc, and try to make workouts and reference it in most blogs / articles. The site has several blogs / articles about everything from Training, Healthy eating, inspiration and motivation, but what really caught my interest is their “Rebel Army” + the 6 Week challenges.

The Rebel army is the users on the site people who want to take part in their community, where you as in an RPG can make your own character to describe yourself, and leveling up your character and his stats from doing the 6 week challenges.

The 6 Week challenges are challenges you pose yourself for the next 6 weeks, which can wary from training / health to none health related life goals as well.
As you complete challenges you can join a guild, these guilds are focused on specific aspects of training, wheatear you want to be doing more endurance oriented training, martial arts, or whatever kind of training you prefer, again kept in the RPG universe.

This site is very much carried by trying to have a sense of community and cooperating with others sharing experiences, while having similar(esk) hobbies (being the nerdy theme.

I have set up my first challenge (just to try it out see how it is going to work out get a feel for how active the actual community is, you can find the challenge here: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/45254-challenge-1-preparing-for-the-journey/
I tried to keep the text a bit nerdy to keep with the theme of the site.

New running shoes

Picture included

Slight injury

As i mentioned in the week 6-8 post i ended up getting my foot taped up last Friday, this was due to a sudden pain in my arch tendon, this was likely due to the increase of amount of km ran and those long 23 km runs, in addition to my running shoes being kind of old.

In the mean time i have removed the tape bought some new shoes, and on Friday ill be able to start up running again.

Running in the snow

One of the Perks or drawbacks of living in the north is the snow, I absolutely love running in the snow it's one of my absolute favorite things about running! It feels like running in a completely different world and makes everything feel different then their usual selves.

Tough The temperature is bellow -5 degrees and my ears are screaming and my nose is running, faster than I am!, it still feels great to run being the first to set your feet in newly fallen snow just gives me a completely new feeling of freedom when running, and since we don't usually get this much snow in Denmark it never really losses its novelty.

A Few pictures from the run on the right
